Ingredients to make Quinoa Pulao

  1. Quinoa: 1 cup
  2. Water: 2 cups
  3. Onion: 1 (finely chopped)
  4. Carrot: ½ cup (finely chopped)
  5. Green beans: ½ cup (finely chopped)
  6. Peas: ¼ cup
  7. Tomato: 1 (finely chopped)
  8. Ginger-garlic paste: 1 tsp
  9. Green chilli: 1-2 (according to taste)
  10. Oil or ghee: 2 tsp
  11. Cumin seeds: 1 tsp
  12. Turmeric powder: ½ tsp
  13. Garam masala: ½ tspSalt: according to taste
  14. Coriander leaves: for garnishing
  15. Lemon juice: 1 tsp (optional)

Method

  1. First of all, wash the quinoa thoroughly 3-4 times so that its bitterness goes away. Soak it in water for ten to fifteen minutes after that.
  2. Heat oil or ghee in a pan. Add cumin seeds to it, and when the cumin seeds start crackling, add ginger-garlic paste and green chilies and fry lightly.
  3. Now add chopped onion and fry till golden. After this, add turmeric powder, garam masala, and salt, and fry for a few seconds.
  4. Now add vegetables like chopped carrots, beans, peas, and tomatoes to the pan and cook for 2-3 minutes.
  5. Keep in mind that the vegetables should not melt too much; they should be a little crunchy.
  6. Drain the soaked quinoa and add it to the pan and mixing it well with the vegetables. Cover the pan and pour in two cups of water.
  7. Cook over low heat until the quinoa is cooked through and all the water has been absorbed. After cooking, turn off the gas and leave it covered for 5 minutes.
  8. Now add chopped coriander and lemon juice to it and serve hot.
  9. You can eat this delicious quinoa pulao with curd, raita, or pickle.
