- 2 large tomatoes
- 1 onion (finely chopped)
- 2 green chilies (finely chopped)
- 1 inch ginger (grated)
- 3-4 garlic cloves (made into a paste)
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon coriander powder
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- 1/2 teaspoon Kashmiri red chili powder (for color)
- 1 tablespoon fresh cream (optional)
- 2 tablespoons oil or ghee
- Salt to taste
- Fresh coriander leaves (for garnish)
Method: Matar Paneer Curry Recipe
- Cut the paneer into little cubes first.
- The paneer pieces should now be fried in hot oil until they are lightly golden.
- This will prevent the paneer from breaking while making the vegetable. After frying, take out the paneer on a plate.
- Grind the tomatoes in a blender and prepare a smooth puree.
- If you want, boil the tomatoes, peel them, and then grind them; this will make the puree more silky.
- Now heat oil or ghee in a pan and fry cumin seeds in it.
- Add finely chopped onion now, and cook till light golden.
- Then add ginger-garlic paste and green chilies and fry for 1 minute.
- Now add tomato puree, turmeric, coriander powder, red chili powder, and salt, and cook on a medium flame. Fry the spices till the oil separates.
- Add green peas to the masala and stir for 2-3 minutes.
- Now add 1 cup of water and cook the peas till they become soft for about 5-7 minutes.
- When the peas are cooked, add the roasted paneer to them and let it boil lightly.
- To thicken the stew, add the cream and garam masala and stir.
- Now switch off the gas and add some fresh coriander leaves as a garnish.
- Serve hot matar paneer with roti, naan, or paratha.
