Ingredients: Pea Paratha Recipe
- 2 cups wheat flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1.5 cups green peas
- 1–2 green chilies (finely chopped)
- 1/2 inch piece of ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1/4 teaspoon asafoetida
- 1/2 teaspoon coriander powder
- 1/4 teaspoon garam masala
- Salt, to taste
- 1 tablespoon oil or ghee
- Finely chopped coriander leaves
Method:
Prepare the Dough:
In a large bowl, mix wheat flour and salt. Gradually add water and knead into a soft dough. Let it rest for 15 to 20 minutes with a lid on.
Make the Pea Filling:
Boil the green peas and drain the water. In a blender, coarsely grind the peas with green chilies and ginger. Ensure the mixture isn’t too smooth—it should retain some texture.
Cook the Filling:
In a pan, heat the oil. Add the asafoetida and cumin seeds. Stir thoroughly after adding the ground pea mixture. Add salt, garam masala, and coriander powder. Fry until the moisture evaporates, 2 to 3 minutes. After adding the chopped coriander, switch off the gas. Allow the mixture to cool.
Assemble the Paratha:
Divide the dough into small balls. Roll a ball slightly, place 1–2 teaspoons of the pea filling in the center, and seal it. Gently roll into a round paratha.
Cook the Paratha:
Place the paratha on a heated surface. Fry on both sides until golden brown, brushing lightly with ghee or oil for extra crispiness.
Serve:
Serve hot with curd, pickle, or your favorite chutney.
