Ingredients: Protein-Rich Moong Dal Cheela
- 1 cup yellow moong dal (split yellow lentils)
- 1 tsp ginger-green chilli paste
- ¼ tsp turmeric powder
- Salt to taste
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 tsp oil (for cooking)
- 2 tbsp finely chopped fresh coriander
- 1 pinch asafoetida (hing)
Preparation Method:
- Rinse the moong dal thoroughly and soak it in water for about 4 to 5 hours.
- Once soaked, drain the water and grind the dal into a smooth paste using a mixer.
- Add a little water to the paste to achieve a thick, pouring consistency.
- Mix in turmeric powder, salt, ginger-chilli paste, cumin seeds, asafoetida, and chopped coriander. Let the batter rest for 10 minutes to enhance the flavor.
- Lightly oil a non-stick pan and heat it over medium heat.
- Pour a ladleful of batter onto the hot pan and spread it gently into a round shape.
- Cook on low flame until the bottom turns golden brown.
- Flip the cheela and cook the other side until done.
- Serve hot with green chutney, tomato chutney, or curd for a wholesome breakfast.
