Ingredients: Protein-Rich Moong Dal Cheela

  1. 1 cup yellow moong dal (split yellow lentils)
  2. 1 tsp ginger-green chilli paste
  3. ¼ tsp turmeric powder
  4. Salt to taste
  5. 1 tsp cumin seeds
  6. 1 tsp oil (for cooking)
  7. 2 tbsp finely chopped fresh coriander
  8. 1 pinch asafoetida (hing)

Preparation Method:

  1. Rinse the moong dal thoroughly and soak it in water for about 4 to 5 hours.
  2. Once soaked, drain the water and grind the dal into a smooth paste using a mixer.
  3. Add a little water to the paste to achieve a thick, pouring consistency.
  4. Mix in turmeric powder, salt, ginger-chilli paste, cumin seeds, asafoetida, and chopped coriander. Let the batter rest for 10 minutes to enhance the flavor.
  5. Lightly oil a non-stick pan and heat it over medium heat.
  6. Pour a ladleful of batter onto the hot pan and spread it gently into a round shape.
  7. Cook on low flame until the bottom turns golden brown.
  8. Flip the cheela and cook the other side until done.
  9. Serve hot with green chutney, tomato chutney, or curd for a wholesome breakfast.
