Ingredients: Barley Soup for Weight Loss
- 1/2 cup barley
- 4 cups water or vegetable broth
- 1 finely chopped onion
- 1 carrot (cut into small pieces)
- 1/2 cup peas
- 1/2 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
- Salt to taste
- Black pepper powder
- A little coriander leaves (for garnish)
- 1 teaspoon oil or olive oil
Method:
- First of all, wash the barley thoroughly and soak it in water for 2-3 hours. This will cook it quickly.
- Heat oil in a deep pan or cooker. Add cumin seeds and fry them. Now add finely chopped onion and ginger-garlic paste and fry till it turns golden.
- Add chopped carrots and peas and fry for 2-3 minutes.
- Now remove the soaked barley from the water and put it in the pan. Add 4 cups of water or vegetable broth and salt to it.
- Cover the pan and cook till the barley melts completely. If you are using a cooker, cook till 2-3 whistles.
- After the soup is cooked, add black pepper powder to it and mix well. Now take it out in a bowl and serve it hot by adding finely chopped coriander on top.
