Ingredients: Easy Bread Masala Recipe
- Bread slices: 6-8 (white or brown bread)
- Onion: 1 medium (finely chopped)
- Tomato: 1 medium size (finely chopped)
- Capsicum: Half (finely chopped, optional)
- Green chilies: 1-2 (finely chopped, according to taste)
- Ginger-garlic paste: 1 tsp
- Oil/ghee: 2-3 tbsp
- Mustard seeds: 1/2 tsp
- Curry leaves: 5-6
- Turmeric powder: 1/4 tsp
- Red chili powder: 1/2 tsp (according to taste)
- Coriander powder: 1 tsp
- Garam masala: 1/2 tsp
- Salt: according to taste
- Coriander leaves: finely chopped (for garnish)
- Lemon juice: 1 tsp (optional)
Method:
- Firstly, cut the bread slices into small square pieces. If you want, you can lightly toast them or use them as is.
- After this, heat oil/ghee in a wok or pan. Add the mustard seeds to the heated oil. When the mustard seeds start crackling, add curry leaves and finely chopped green chilies.
- Now add finely chopped onion and fry it till it turns golden.
- When the onion is fried, add ginger-garlic paste and fry for a minute. After this, add finely chopped tomatoes and capsicum and cook till the tomatoes become soft.
- Now add turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, and salt and mix well. Fry the spices on a low flame for a minute or two so that the rawness goes away.
- Now, thoroughly combine the spices with the chopped bread pieces in the wok. Make sure that the masala is well applied to every piece of bread.
- If you want the bread a little soft, then you can sprinkle some water and cover it, and cook on a low flame for 2-3 minutes. This will allow the bread to absorb the flavor of the spices well.
- Lastly, stir thoroughly after adding the finely chopped coriander and garam masala. If you want, you can also add lemon juice, this will enhance the taste even more.
- Your delicious bread masala is ready. Serve it with hot tea or coffee and enjoy your light evening hunger.
