Made with semolina and gram flour, it is light, soft, and healthful. It is very easy to make and can be prepared in a few minutes. Let’s know the recipe for making spongy and tasty dhokla.

Homemade Gujarati Dhokla Recipe: Ingredients

  1. 1 cup gram flour
  2. 2 tbsp semolina
  3. 1 tsp ginger-green chilli paste
  4. 1 tsp lemon juice
  5. 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  6. 1 tsp fruit salt or baking soda
  7. 1 tsp oil
  8. Salt to taste
  9. 2 tbsp oil
  10. 1 tsp mustard1 tsp asafoetida
  11. 8-10 curry leaves
  12. 2 green chillies
  13. 1 tsp sugar
  14. 1/2 cup water
  15. Green coriander

Method:

  1. Add gram flour and semolina to a large bowl.
  2. Add ginger-green chilli paste, lemon juice, turmeric powder, and salt and mix well.
  3. Now add water slowly to make a thick batter and let it rest for 15-20 minutes.
  4. Heat the water in a pressure cooker or steamer.
  5. Mix the batter right away with light hands after adding baking soda or fruit salt.
  6. Pour the batter into a greased dhokla tray or thali.
  7. Put the tray in the steamer and let it steam for fifteen to twenty minutes.
  8. When the dhokla is cooked, do a toothpick test. If the toothpick comes out clean, the dhokla is ready.
  9. Curry leaves, mustard seeds, asafoetida, and green chilies are now added to hot oil in a pan and fried.
  10. Now add sugar and water and let it boil.
  11. Coat the prepared dhokla by pouring this tadka over it.
  12. Garnish the dhokla with green coriander.
