Ingredients: Sweet and Sour Lemon Pickle Recipe

  1. 250 grams fresh lemon
  2. 250 grams sugar
  3. 1/2 teaspoon black salt
  4. 1/2 teaspoon plain salt
  5. 1/4 teaspoon red chili powder (optional)
  6. 1/4 teaspoon garam masala (optional)
  7. 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder (optional)

Method:

  1. First of all, wash the lemon thoroughly and wipe it. Keep in mind that there should be no water on the lemon at all.
  2. Now, cut one lemon into 8 pieces. If you want, you can also cut the lemon into 4 pieces, but cutting it into 8 pieces prepares the pickle quickly.
  3. Put the cut lemon pieces in a glass jar or ceramic pot.
  4. Now add black salt, plain salt, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and garam masala, and mix well.
  5. Close the lid of the jar and keep it in the sun for 2-3 days. Keep shaking the jar every day so that the spices get well applied to the lemon.
  6. When the lemon peels start becoming a little soft, add sugar to them.
  7. Now close the jar again and keep it in the sun. Keep shaking the jar every 2-3 days.
  8. In about 15-20 days, the sugar will dissolve completely, and a thick syrup will be formed. The lemons will melt and become soft in this syrup.
  9. When the lemon peels become completely soft and the syrup becomes thick, then you understand that your sweet and sour lemon pickle is ready.
  10. You can store it for years. This pickle can be served with roti, paratha, dal-rice, or any food.
