  1. Poha – 1 cup (washed and softened)
  2. Boiled potatoes – 2 (mashed)
  3. Carrot – ¼ cup (grated)
  4. Capsicum – ¼ cup (finely chopped)
  5. Onion – 1 (finely chopped)
  6. Green chili – 2 (finely chopped)
  7. Coriander leaves – 2 tbsp (finely chopped)
  8. Cumin powder – ½ tsp
  9. Coriander powder – ½ tsp
  10. Garam masala – ¼ tsp
  11. Red chilli powder – ½ tsp
  12. Lemon juice – 1 tsp
  13. Gram flour or bread crumbs – 2 tbsp (for binding)
  14. Salt – according to taste
  15. Oil – for shallow frying

Method of preparation

  1. To make this, first wash the poha with water and keep it covered for 5 minutes, so that it becomes soft.
  2. Now add mashed potatoes, soft poha, and chopped vegetables (carrots, capsicum, onion, green chilies, coriander leaves) in a large bowl.
  3. After this, add cumin powder, coriander powder, garam masala, red chili powder, salt, and lemon juice and mix well.
  4. Now mix the mixture well and if needed, add gram flour or bread crumbs for binding, so that your tikki can be made well.
  5. Shape small cutlets or tikkis from this.
  6. After this, heat some oil in a non-stick pan and fry the cutlets on medium flame till they become golden and crispy from both sides and then serve hot cutlets with green chutney or tomato sauce and enjoy a healthy breakfast.
