Butter Chicken Recipe: Ingredients

  1. Chicken: 500 grams (boneless, chopped into small pieces)
  2. Curd: 1 cup
  3. Garlic paste: 1 tbsp
  4. Ginger paste: 1 tbsp
  5. Kashmiri red chili powder: 1 tbsp
  6. Coriander powder: 1 tbsp
  7. Garam masala powder: 1 tsp
  8. Salt: to taste
  9. Butter: 3-4 tbsp
  10. Oil: 2 tbsp
  11. Onion: 2 large (finely grated)
  12. Tomatoes: 4 large (finely grated)
  13. Cashew paste: 2 tbsp
  14. Fresh cream: 1/2 cup
  15. Green chili: 2 (finely chopped)
  16. Fresh coriander leaves: for garnish

Method :

  1. Firstly, wash the chicken pieces thoroughly. In a bowl, add curd, garlic paste, ginger paste, Kashmiri red chili powder, coriander powder, garam masala powder, and salt, and mix well.
  2. Add the chicken pieces to it coat it well and keep it in the fridge to marinate for at least 2 hours.
  3. Grill the marinated chicken or fry it on a pan by adding little oil till it becomes golden brown. Keep it aside.
  4. Heat butter in a pan and add grinded onions and fry till it becomes golden. Then add ground tomatoes and cook well.
  5. When the tomatoes are cooked completely and the oil starts separating, add cashew paste to it and mix it.
  6. Let the gravy cool down and then put it in a blender and make a smooth paste.
  7. Heat some butter in a pan and add the blended paste to it. Add fresh cream, green chilies and salt and mix well. Cook the gravy for 5-7 minutes.
  8. Add the grilled chicken pieces to the gravy and mix well. Cook it on low flame for 5 minutes, so that the chicken can absorb the taste of the gravy.
  9. Serve the butter chicken with hot naan, roti, or rice. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and some cream on top.
