Ingredients: Crispy Aloo Cheese Tikki Recipe
For Tikki
- Potatoes (boiled and mashed) – 3 medium
- Bread crumbs – ½ cup
- Coriander leaves (finely chopped) – 2 tbsp
- Green chilies (finely chopped) – 1-2
- Red chili powder – ½ tsp
- Chaat masala – ½ tsp
- Garam masala – ¼ tsp
- Cornflour – 2 tbsp (for binding)
- Salt – to taste
For Filling
- Mozzarella cheese (grated) – ½ cup
- Chili flakes – ¼ tsp
- For coating
- Cornflour – 1 tbsp
- Water – 2 tbsp
- Bread crumbs – ½ cup
- Oil – for frying
Method:
Firstly, add bread crumbs, coriander leaves, green chilies, red chili powder, chaat masala, garam masala and salt to the boiled and mashed potatoes. Now add one tablespoon of cornflour and mix well so that the tikki mixture binds.
Now take small portions of the prepared mixture and spread them in a round shape on the palm. Place one spoon of mozzarella cheese in the middle and lightly close it from all sides to give it the shape of a tikki. Now seal it well so that the cheese does not come out while frying.
Now make a thin batter by mixing one tablespoon of cornflour and water in a bowl. Dip the tikkis in this batter and then wrap them well in bread crumbs. This will make the tikki more crispy and attractive to look at.
Now heat oil in a pan and fry the tikkis on low to medium flame till they become golden and crispy. For a healthy option, shallow fry them or bake them in an air fryer at 180°C for 10-12 minutes.
Serve hot potato cheese tikkis with green chutney, tomato sauce or garlic mayonnaise dip. You will definitely love its crispiness and cheesy texture from inside. If you want a spicy twist, you can add some chaat masala and chilli flakes to the tikki mixture.
